It’s all about the focal point!

Updating the fireplace was the first step in transforming this bland Family room into a cozy, inviting space that seems to say, ‘sit a spell’. Our faux artist started by painting the somewhat dated brick surround and hearth and we  created interest by selecting several layers of softer hues. 

Book shelves are not just for books! Mingle and merge with other items to create interest and draw the eye to conversational items that have a story. In most cases we prefer asymmetrical balance adjusting shelves so that larger scale items may be displayed, however stationary shelves prohibited this. We began this project, by gathering heirlooms and items that were special to our client, then added larger items first on each side and then filled in with layers of books so that small items did not become lost. 

Painting the mantle charcoal was the perfect finishing touch.
