Foyer
This blank canvas was setting the tone for the rest of the home and was not particular inviting. We started by removing the dated wallpaper borders and selected a soft sage paint color that would draw guest into the home. It was selected to coordinate with the homeowners existing art and accessories. A hand knotted area rug was added to ground the console table and to create interest to this area. Last but not least, the added oomph! A beautiful decorative chandelier was incorporated to take the home to the next level.
Kitchen
This dreary kitchen with builder grade cabinetry and worn linoleum floor begged for an update! In the redesigned kitchen, new cabinetry was high on the homeowners wish list! The custom-built cabinetry features a light, sienna finish with a rich brown glazing. The design of the new cabinetry now provides a generous amount of storage- which was a must have for our homeowner who enjoys to cook and entertain!
To bring in more natural light, the dated “greenhouse” style window was replaced with a full view window that now allows the homeowner to view her outdoor area.
Complementing the cabinetry, coordinating granite counter tops and travertine tile floor was selected to create interest and allow the space to feel open.
The use of a whimsical fabric from Green House fabrics was used on the window treatment to bring in a bold statement.
Dining Room & Sun Room Addition
The demo of the dining room wall that separated the back-door entrance walk through from the dining room was crucial for the overall function of the home. A custom-built display partition was imperative to showcase the homeowners found pottery and to give the collection cohesiveness.
The dining room table and chairs held deep nostalgia for the homeowner. To give the ensemble a new twist, we selected host and hostess chairs from Parker Southern and adorned the side chairs with custom made chair covers to coordinate.
The deterioration of the back deck was a sight for sore eyes! An extension of the home for an outdoor living space was within reach and we began the process of creating a beautiful, functional sun room for the homeowner to enjoy.
To create a space that was light and airy, the use of a punchy greenhouse fabric that was UV protected was used on the window treatments and several occasional upholstery pieces.
